LMSA-NE Membership Forms

**Please note: As we are transitioning to our new designation as LMSA-NE from our longstanding name NBLHO, some of the registration documents for this year are still NBLHO documents. Rest assured that they remain the most updated documents.

Interested members have two options for membership registration:

Membership Classifications & Dues

Although the LMSA-NE membership is mostly composed of medical students, the LMSA-NE/NBLHO constitution allows for different levels of membership.  The classification of members is as follows: 1) Medical Student 2) Graduate Student 3) Physician 4) Allied Health Student 5) Post-Doc 6) Undergraduate Student 7) Health Care or Affiliated Worker 8) High School Student

The fee schedule for the 2009-2010 LMSA Membership Year is the following:

High School Student (Free 1 year)
Undergraduate Student ($5 1 year)
Medical, Graduate, and Allied Health Student ($15 1 year or $40 4 years)
Post-doc, Physician, Health Care or affiliated Worker ($20 1 year)

The membership year is from August 1 to July 31 of the respective year.

Membership Requirements

The membership of LMSA-NE shall consist of individuals whose interests are consistent with the objectives and who meet the requirements for membership as provided by the LMSA-NE/NBLHO Constitution. Individuals must submit their application information and dues to be eligible for membership and to have voting privileges. All members are expected to be active and attend local chapter, regional, and national LMSA meetings. Deadline for chapter rosters and dues is November 1st.

LMSA-NE Membership Benefits

Dual membership
Dual membership to LMSA-NE and the national umbrella organization LMSA from August to July of the academic year.

Discounted entry to all LMSA conferences / social events
The 2010 37th Annual LMSA-NE/NBLHO Conference will take place on the weekend of January 22-23, 2010 in New Haven, Connecticut on the campus of the Yale University School of Medicine.

Scholarship Opportunities
Qualification to apply for LMSA Merit Scholarships and information about other national scholarships announced through the LMSA list serve.
2009-2010 LMSA-NE Scholarships

Research Opportunities
Qualification to participate at the LMSA Annual Research Poster Competition and information about other research opportunities announced through the LMSA list serve.

Leadership Opportunities
Qualification to run for the LMSA Regional and National Executive Board positions.
Opportunity to apply for the Annual Garcia Leadership Conference, sponsored by LMSA. This is a three-day conference designed to cultivate and develop the leadership and organizational skills of recognized Latin American medical student leaders. All expenses are paid by LMSA.

Networking Opportunities
Through the various regional and national LMSA activities, you will have the opportunity to network with other Latinos in the health professions both at the medical school level and beyond. LMSA-NE members also participate in activities organized by the National Hispanic Medical Association, the national organization representing Latino physicians and medical faculty across the United States.
